Exterior walls almost done

Exterior walls are basically done. Window locations finalized and will be cut out shortly.

Once the carport storage room is set, it'll be time for the pour. First, there'll be rebar placed vertically and horizontally through the entire grid. Then, a nice wet concrete mix will be poured through all the cavities.

The walls are going up

Here they go!

ICF block details

The blocks are about 7 foot long, 15 inches tall, 10 inches wide.

Heavier than you'd expect-- you see the foam, but the particles are held together by cement.

I believe these are called "screen grid" blocks, in that the channels form a horizontal-vertical grid for concrete (as opposed to flat "ice cream sandwich" or almost-flat "waffle" type panels with an open void in between our and inner sides of the blocks.

The cylindrical channels running through and across the blocks are about 4 inches in diameter.

Due to the 15 inch height, this also means that the center-to-center spacing of the channels is 15".

The ICF blocks arrive

The blocks are here-- stacked up mostly on the slab. Very little breakage.
